Gambling.com Domain sold for $2.5M USD

According to a German language press release sent out by Sedo this morning, the company has succesfully brokered the sale of the domain Gambling.com for $2.5 Million USD on behalf of the British Media Corp. The new owner wishes to remain anonymous – no surprise considering the recent actions of the US government against online gambling. The whois seems to still list the old owner at this point.

Sex.com Domain Sale Entered into Guinness Book of World Records

The Sale of Sex.com has now been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. The entry is currently listed online only, but will be included in the next print edition. The domain name was sold for $13 million USD by Escom LLC to Clover Holdings Ltd on 17 November 2010. Sedo brokered the sale.

Gambling.com Reserve Price Set to $9 Million USD?

As reported in November, Media Corp is planning to sell their domain Gambling.com with the help of Sedo in order to fund further acquisitions. According to The Times (paid access) it appears that the reserve has now been set at $9 million USD, which is less than half of the original purchase price for the site for $20 million USD in May of 2005, according to the Wall Street Journal on The Australian.

Zoom.com And Trademark Rights Sold for $344,800 in Equity

According to this press release, modem manufacturer Zoom Telephonics sold the domain name Zoom.com and related trademark assets for the equivalent of $344,800 in Equity to Zoom Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ZOOM). The seller received 80,000 shares in the buying company as compensation and is given the right to divest these shares over the course of 15 months after signing.

Zoom Technologies will assume all rights to the zoom.com domain name after a 4 month transition period. During the transition period both companies will share the zoom.com home page, and a single click will transfer someone to the home page of either Zoom Telephonics or Zoom Technologies. The companies have agreed to cooperate in order to affect a smooth transition of email addresses.

e.co Sells for $81,000

The domain name e.co was sold to a live bidder in New York at the Sedo auction held today. According to Andrew Allemann over at Domain Name Wire, the winning bidder was Domain Invest Lonnie Borck.

Retweet.com Sells for $250,000

As reported by Mashable Retweet.com Sold for $250,000 on the Flippa.com market place. After receiving bids by 34 bidders up to $202,000, a new bidder joined the auction and bought the site domain for its listed BIN (buy it now) price of $250,000. The identity of the buyer has yet to be revealed.

As per a post on their Member Center, AfternicDLS has sold the domain name Ticket.com for $1,525,000 USD. The name was promoted through the DLS partner network and the sale was closed by a Buydomains Sales Representative. It currently redirects to Stubhub with an affiliate code.
