Quick Poll: How Many Unique New gTLD’s Will Be Applied For?

May 7th, 2012 Comments off

With ICANN’s announcement on Friday that 2,091 applications have been submitted with another 214 pending awaiting payment, the question now becomes how many Unique applications will there be for new gTLD?

There are many strings which have publicly announced multiple applicants including .music and .eco.

Even a brand application could have multiple applications which would be if two or more brands having a matching trademark in the world apply.

Even a Geo could have multiple application.

The frequently used example is an application from Paris, France and one from Paris, Texas.

So the question is now of the total number of applications, how many will be unique; that is the only application for that string.

You can vote on the poll on the right or for bragging rights put your selection in the comment section below.

April 20th, 2012 Comments off

We have been running a poll at TheDomains.com for 20 days asking “How Many New gTLD Applications Will Be Submitted?”

To date there have been almost 470 responses with 60% of the  respondents picking over 5,000 application as their answer.

The next most selected answer is 2,500-3,000 which has 15% of the votes.

There are 8 other choices in the poll as low as 750-1,000.

The poll is unscientific and is opened to anyone to vote, once.

The poll will remain opened until the before the Big Reveal” which is currently still scheduled for around April 29th, but since the TAS system hasn’t been re-opened nor has a firm date for the re-opening been announced the “Big Reveal” date is very much up in the air.

QuickPoll: Which of These NameJet.com “Premium” No Reserve Domain Name Auctions Will Sell For The Most?

July 13th, 2011 Comments off

Namejet.com put out a press release yesterday talking about “a series of valuable domain names” which are starting as soon as July 15, “many of which have never seen the auction block.”

(of course we know that some like gocarts.com and trumpet.com seem to stay on the auction block, but I digress)

The NameJet.com PR goes on to state:

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for companies and individuals to secure a premium domain name that is perfect for their business.”

“Domains with no reserve prices include:

  •     GoCarts.com
  •     Modifications.com
  •      WoodFloor.com
  •     Rex.com
  •     AloeVera.com
  •     Copy.com

“The domain name aftermarket exists to help people acquire their perfect domain name,” said Kurt Gastrock, SVP of Product at Network Solutions. “Every day thousands of short, memorable, and highly brandable domain name registrations expire and become available. However, there is such a high demand for these names that getting one without help has odds similar to the lottery. Thanks to our partnership with NameJet, we give our customers access to those names.”

Other domain names that will be available this summer include:

  •     Trumpet.com
  •     fl.org
  •     Tx.org
  •     FindQuickLoans.com
  •     AdvancedDevelopment.com
  •     Aerospace.com
  •     BestAutomobileInsurance.com
  •     BlackPearlNecklace.com
  •     ComputerLearning.net
  •     CoverageInsurance.com
  •     FamilyMedicalCare.com
  •     FederalLoans.net
  •     FindQuickLoans.com
  •     FreeMusicDownload.com
  •     HikingSandals.com
  •     HouseRentals.com
  •     MensHairstyles.com

So we picked what we considered the best of the list and started a poll on which domain name you think will sell for the most off of this list on the right hand side of the blog.

The first Premium domain name of the summer just sold a couple of days ago with Warez.com selling for $47K, so if you think that will be the highest sale of the bunch you can choose that one too.

Only one vote this time guys so make it count.

As always you can leave a comment below or identify yourself and your vote for bragging rights
