School.com & Box.com Sold In Private Transactions
Office Depot Sells School.com, DigiMedia Sells Box.com to Box.net
According to a change in whois, School.com has been sold by Office Depot to well-known domain investor George Kirikos’ Leap of Faith Financial services. Details of the deal have not been published. Kirikos plans to relaunch the site by the end of the summer.
[Updated]: Office Depot Canada is closing their shops by June according to a poster in the RedFlagDeals forum. The company has been closing down stores since at least 2008.
As discovered by George Kirikos, Box.com also appears to have changed owners earlier this year. The domain is now under whois privacy at GoDaddy, but was owned by Scott Day’s DigiMedia before. The name redirects to Box.net a cloud storage service. The company completed a new $48M funding round around the time of the acquisition. Financial details are unknown at this point in time.
